The business of the institute dates back to 1953 when a team was formed in Kharkov that commenced the development of hardware components of control and tracking stations for various-purpose aircraft. Beginning from the sixtieths, the institute participated in actually all the space programs of the former USSR being responsible for high-frequency measurements of spacecraft booster rocket flight trajectories. In the eightieths, JSC SRIRM in collaboration with the Institute for Radio Electronics, the Academy of Science of Ukraine, developed a complex of rradiophysical apparatuses intended for remote sensing of the surface and oceans of the Earth for the purposes of the study and harmonious exploitation of natural resources. The complex was installed at series Kosmos artificial satellites of the Earth and made it possible for the reception of information necessary for the national economy. Since 1992, in virtue of its scientific and technological orientation, experience in developments, manning with highly skilled scientists, engineers, and workers, the institute has occupied the leading position in the creation of Ukrainian radio electronic technology and has become the leading enterprise for the National Space Agency of Ukraine.In the beginning of the ninetieths, the institute commenced the development and fabrication of medical equipment including microwave and ultrasonic diagnostic apparatuses, microwave and EHF therapeutic apparatuses and complexes. During this period of time, the enterprise has fabricated and furnished to medical establishments of Ukraine over 500 thou. ultrasonic scanners, over 20 apparatuses for prostate hyperthermia, a lot of apparatuses for mammary gland diagnostics, and other X-ray equipment.
