Company Profile
About us
Servometer Corporation was founded in 1957 when two engineers, Morris Holowachuk and Frederick Kelly, decided to create a business manufacturing an improved “servometer” for sale to the US Airforce and instrumentation manufacturers.
Unfortunately, there was no market for the Servometer®. Undaunted, Fred and Morris decided to continue building a business, and call their company Servometer® Corporation. They focused their considerable talents on developing a process that would allow them to manufacture miniature metal bellows, smaller and more precise than other metal bellows available on the market at that time.
They were successful. Morris and Fred developed and refined a process to manufacture Electrodeposited Nickel Bellows so revolutionary and unique that they were awarded a patent for it. These miniature, electrodeposited metal bellows would prove to be a unique product with wide spread demand and limitless advantages for the market place. The first press release brought in over 1500 inquiries. The first commercial use for Servometer’s revolutionary bellows was for a low wind-up and zero backlash flexible shaft coupling.
In 1958, Servometer, growing now with 5 employees, moved from its cramped quarters in the Holowachuk basement, to a small factory in Passaic, NJ. By 1962, having grown to 22 employees, the company, forced to find larger accommodations, made another move, this time to a larger facility in Clifton, NJ. Fred Kelly retired from Servometer in1967. Servometer continued to grow and expand. In 1974, Morris Holowachuk designed and built his “dream factory” on a park-like property in Cedar Grove, NJ. Servometer remains in this beautiful location to this day.
In 1983, Morris Holowachuk passed away. His son, Peter Holowachuk who assumed the reins as president, succeeded him. Morris’ wife Dorothy Holowachuk, who had worked at her husband’s side to build the business, became the active Chairman of the Board, a position that she held until January of 2001. In 1993, Morris’s daughter Jayne became President of Servometer Corporation, making a significant impact on the culture of our organization. With futuristic ideas, Jayne positioned Servometer for growth, and created the readiness to meet and exceed future challenges.
Today, Servometer continues to focus on honing its technical expertise, and of course, “making the impossible possible”. We design and manufacture custom precision components and assemblies to exacting customer specifications. Servometer is a global leader in the production of precision electroformed bellows and related products.
Our tradition and history are built on a fundamental philosophy of hard work, honesty and teamwork. Dedicated people providing innovative solutions to serve ever-changing times have built the company. From the early 1960’s when our products were part of NASA’s Telstar Satellite Program, until today, providing precision parts for the United States Air Force air combat missiles and the Space Shuttle Program, Servometer has remained the benchmark of the industry. Today, Servometer provides products and services to a growing global market.
Servometer is focused on providing the means and the opportunities to grow and improve. Together, as one united team, we will go above and beyond the expectations of our customers. We will persevere in our determination to continue the traditions of the past while providing a clear vision for the future.
We are proud of our past, excited about our future and confident of our continued success.
