Company Profile
THEON SENSORS MEMS business Unit specializes in the development of silicon based modules utilizing micro-electronic technologies. Its prime scope of work is to design, develop and produce flexible and customer specific MEMS modules via standard industrial processes employed for sophisticated control applications used in the Aerospace, Medical and other consumer goods markets.
The MEMS engineering team has expertise in multiple disciplines such as MEMS Design, Analog & Digital CMOS and VLSI Circuit Design, Mechanical Engineering, Micro-Assembly and Packaging.
MEMS Business Unit, in association with a large European Semiconductor foundry, has designed and developed a novel micro-fabrication process which is used to fabricate MEMS capacitive pressure sensors. The sensors which are made using this process exhibit several advantages over the mature poly-silicon piezo-resistive technologies like thermal stability, low power consumption and better sensitivity. Sensing modules are integrated and packaged using special electronics inside custom designed mechanical housings.
For the aerospace field, Theon Sensors is currently collaborating with a large European Space Organization in order to design and develop a MEMS capacitive accelerometer. This accelerometer will incorporate the necessary signal conditioning electronics and will be radiation hardened for use in the demanding environments it expects to operate in.
In addition to the above MEMS Business Unit offers a family of mass airflow sensing modules for several applications in the fields of medical equipments, consumer goods and aerospace. Each sensing module integrates a silicon MEMS flow sensor and readout electronics inside a custom designed mechanical housing
Theon Sensors can deliver complete sensing solutions while expressly adapting the end system to the client’s specifications in terms of measurement range and bandwidth, working conditions, dimensional requirements and cost constraints. The added value for the sensing system designed by Theon using MEMS technology is a complete, technologically advanced module ready to be installed to a system without any or the minimum necessary need of further modification or calibration.
